Energy self-sufficient

Ruhdorfer relies heavily on power from sustainable sources.

At its production site in Straßburg in the Gurk Valley, Ruhdorfer prioritises sustainable power generation. The Ruhdorfer family has operated a hydroelectric power plant on the Gurk river for over 100 years and the entire roof area of the two production halls (planing mill and solid construction timber mill) is used to generate solar power. Overall, Ruhdorfer is energy self-sufficient – in total, more power is produced than consumed.

In May, Sebastian Schuschnig, the Carinthian state government representative for economic and energy affairs, visited Ruhdorfer in Straßburg and toured the production facilities and saw the photovoltaic power systems.
